Because it encapsulates the device's characteristics of heat recovery, supplying fresh air while simultaneously expelling stale air, and catering to consumer demands for energy conservation and air quality, this name has gained widespread acceptance in the market and industry, leading to its increasingly broad application.
Fresh air exchangers are air heat recovery devices. Based on the type of air heat exchanger, they can be categorized into plate type, plate-fin type, rotary type, and heat pipe type, among others. Based on the nature of the recovered heat, they are classified as sensible heat recovery units and total heat recovery units. Fresh air exchangers on the market generally refer to plate-fin type sensible heat recovery units. Rotary type total heat recovery units also exist, but their application is still limited due to their higher price. Plate-fin type total heat recovery units have been available abroad for some time, but their price is high; however, it is said that some domestic manufacturers are currently developing them.
Good ventilation is an effective way to dilute various indoor pollutants and improve indoor air quality. Fresh air exchangers replace an equal amount of indoor polluted air while supplying fresh air. In contrast, in typical fan coil units (FCUs) with fresh air conditioning systems, the fresh air system is set up separately and supplied to each room. Excess air is expelled by positive pressure in the room. In some tightly enclosed buildings, insufficient fresh air may occur. From this perspective, using fresh air exchangers instead of fresh air handling units to supply fresh air in air conditioning systems has advantages, and there are many engineering examples of such applications.
